“FT -Food Truck” -a food delivery app (UI/UX case study)

It was a design challenge by swiggy and it took me 5 days to finish, including the documentation of this case study.

Problem Statement

Today, we can get all the gourmet snacks, desserts, and coffee, right at our doorstep, at the tap of a button. However, it can never match up to the fun we had while having ice candies with our buddies or sipping chai with our office mates, at the roadside shop.

Here our challenge is to design a food Delivery App that can facilitate the experience of food trucks like old time.

Goal

Do you remember the days when the bell of the ice cream man would get you all pumped up? You would frantically search all over the place for some change, rush out of the door and run down the street to have a breathless encounter with the ice-cream man! Luckily, you weren’t alone; every other kid in the neighborhood had the same response :)

Today, you can get all the gourmet snacks, desserts and coffee, right at your doorstep, at the tap of a button. However, it can never match up the fun you had while having ice candies with your buddies or sipping chai with your office mates, at the roadside shop.

Our main motive is to create a design that can replicate the nostalgic experience.

1. This Is a comparatively new concept We are going not particularly going to compete against any restaurant and hotels, here we are going to serve to customers warm and fresh food which is cooked in front of them just like our old days.
2. Food Trucks attract more customers: er can give them a nostalgic experience. which may help us to more customers than any restaurant.
3. Food Trucks are portable: as per the current situation due to covid, most people avoid travel so we can move our food truck in a neighborhood where we have high demand in-app, which will help people to get their favorite food which made in front of them in there neighborhood.

Target users

• Millennials and Gen Z consisting of the working professionals and the students, it becomes a real burden for them to buy fresh food due to their work hustle, especially if they live alone. but this app can provide their food in their neighborhood and also at their doorsteps.
• Disabled people- It's very hard for them to go there favorite restaurant and buy their favorite food. but this app can help them find their favorite food at their doorsteps.
• Older generations and Children- They can’t wander on their own. they need somebody to help them every time they go out.

Understanding the existing food supply system and the problem associated with it-

Today, we can get all the gourmet snacks, desserts and coffee, right at our doorstep, at the tap of a button. However, it can never match up the fun we had while having ice candies with our buddies or sipping chai with our office mates, at the roadside shop.

But many times due to heavy Traffic our gets very delayed, because of that we have to eat cold food. we cant even order Indian chat because of this. but food trucks can provide warm and fresh food but currently, we don't have any system that can organize food trucks for their optimal output.

Solution

Imagine a physical food truck that goes around your neighborhood with various kinds of snacks, desserts, juices, etc.

1. Whenever the truck is around, you get informed on this App.
2. It shows you the list of items, their prices, and the counts of availability.
3. You can book your preferred item(s) from the app, locate the truck and collect your food upon reaching.

Benefits

• If we move Food trucks to their neighborhood then people will travel less which will help us to reduce fuel consumption which will eventually help us to reduce pollution up to a certain level.
• As per the current situation, Because of COVID if we get our food in a less crowded place, at walking distance from homes & freshly made hygienic food in front of our eyes it will be very helpful to stop COVID stop spreading while we can still enjoy our life.

Future scope

Day by day traffic is increasing due to this food delivery service will face a hard time to provide warm freshly made food, but food trucks can help us to avoid traffic. due to this, most people will choose food trucks over restaurant & food delivery services.
